1. 優(yōu)先事項;最重要的事;當務(wù)之急 If something is a priority, it is the most important thing you have to do or deal with, or must be done or dealt with before everything else you have to do.
e.g. Being a parent is her first priority... 做好母親是她的頭等大事。 e.g. The government's priority is to build more power plants... 政府的首要任務(wù)是建造更多的發(fā)電站。
2. 優(yōu)先考慮;給…優(yōu)先權 If you give priority to something or someone, you treat them as more important than anything or anyone else.
e.g. The school will give priority to science, maths and modern languages... 學(xué)校將重點(diǎn)發(fā)展理科、數學(xué)和現代語(yǔ)言。 e.g. The proposals deserve support as they give priority to the needs of children. 這些提議值得擁護,因為它們優(yōu)先考慮了兒童的需求。
3. 優(yōu)先于;比…重要 If something takes priority or has priority over other things, it is regarded as being more important than them and is dealt with first.
e.g. The fight against inflation took priority over measures to combat the deepening recession... 抵制通貨膨脹比抑制日益加劇的經(jīng)濟衰退更為重要。 e.g. I disagree with the premise that economic development has priority over the environment. 我不贊成經(jīng)濟發(fā)展應優(yōu)先于環(huán)境保護這個(gè)前提。
